Polyphonic touch synthesizer#
Plinky+ is an 8 voice expressive polyphonic touch synthesizer that specialises in fragile, melancholic sounds.
It is an extra-large deluxe version of the original Plinky, upgraded in a collaboration between original designer mmalex and Making Sound Machines.
Plinky+ is firmware-compatible with the original Plinky, sharing the same audio engine and beautiful sound that make it a favourite among its users. Its hardware though has been greatly improved.
What's new?#
Plus-sized play surface#
Plinky+ doubles the width of the play surface, with a 22 mm spacing per touch strip. Playing chords becomes easier, and pitch and pressure more accurate.
Bigger Display#
Much larger OLED display in crisp white on black, easier to read from a distance.
Metal Enclosure#
Comes in a black powder-coated metal case, perfect for studio, stage and on the road.
Clear Dust Cover#
Comes with a custom translucent PET-G lid to protect from dust and save the deck.
All the I/O#
All inputs and outputs from its little sibling, plus the additional ones from the Expander.
Better Sound#
Symmetric 6.3 mm jacks and an analogue output stage with dedicated volume knob for a better-sounding, more robust connection with your other gear.
Battery-operated (optional)#
While Plinky+ does not come with a built-in battery, it has the circuitry and a connector that lets users retrofit a battery pack.
Printed Manual#
Plinky+ comes with a 48 page printed user manual.
Assembled or Solderless DIY Kit#
Plinky+ comes fully assembled or as a DIY Kit. The DIY Kit does not require soldering and contains all the parts you need to assemble the synth.
You need to bring your own tools like a screwdriver, but other than that it's an easy assembly. To get an impression of the build process, check the build guide.
